ESG Framework

Sustainability-related efforts are integral to our business and consistent with our focus on value creation for our stakeholders. As more fully described in our 2024 Sustainability Report, we are pleased to be on track to achieve our long-term aspirational targets shown below by 2033:

We continue to raise the bar by evaluating our annual progress and making forward-looking investments, such as our recent introduction of fully electric garbage trucks being tested in New York City. In 2024, we also opened five new facilities which advance these efforts, including a state-of-the-art recycling facility and renewable natural gas facilities at four of our landfills, with several additional facilities under development.

In 2024, we furthered our multi-year improvements in employee engagement, most notably in voluntary turnover, which was down over 25%, and in safety, with an incident rate reduction of over 15% driven by more than 65% of operating locations either posting zero safety-related incidents or achieving year-over-year improvements. Moreover, our Total Recordable Injury Rate remained below industry averages.
