Importing positions and trades from a CSV file
Required columns, accepted values, row limits, and what happens to skipped rows and repeat imports.
Quick actions
Jump straight to the place that usually fixes this.
Open Import and choose the Positions tab for your current holdings or the Trades tab for your trade history. Each tab offers a template; its column headers always match. Upload a CSV or TXT file of up to 1,000 rows.
Positions need ticker and quantity. Optional: cost_basis (the total cost of the position, not the cost per share), current_price (per share), currency, account_name, isin, cusip and exchange_code. All imported positions go into one manual account; account_name does not create separate holdings.
For a US holding, an ISIN or CUSIP together with currency USD and exchange_code US lets Midas Edge match it to the right security.
Trades need ticker, side (buy, sell, short or cover), quantity, price and trade_ts, the trade date or timestamp (for example 2024-01-15T10:30:00Z). Optional: fees, settlement_date, currency and account_name.
The preview checks every row before anything is saved. Quantity and a trade's price must be greater than 0, dates must be valid, cost_basis and current_price must be 0 or more, an ISIN has 12 characters and a CUSIP 9. A row with an error is listed with its line number and skipped; the valid rows still import.
Importing positions again updates the manual positions you already imported for the same tickers instead of adding duplicates. Trades you already imported are recognised and not added twice.
