During February 2024, we announced a global transformation initiative intended to simplify the Company’s organizational structure and enable us to be more proactive, responsive, and agile and to better serve our customers and to lower our cost base and improve financial performance and cash flow generation. The 2024 Transformation Initiative actions, certain of which are subject to the satisfaction of local law requirements in various jurisdictions, commenced in the first quarter of 2024 and we expect them to be completed by 2026. The 2024 Transformation Initiative is expected to result in a net reduction to our workforce of approximately 600 employees globally and total pre-tax charges of approximately $75 million in the aggregate, of which approximately $70 million represents severance and other exit-related costs and approximately $5 million represents non-cash accelerated depreciation charges. Total cash expenditures related to the 2024 Transformation Initiative are expected to be approximately $100-110 million, inclusive of $30-40 million for capital expenditures to, among other things, shift manufacturing capacity or capabilities. The 2024 Transformation Initiative resulted in pre-tax charges of $71 million for the year ended December 31, 2024, which primarily relates toemployee severance and other exit costs.
The majority of the termination benefits were accounted for in accordance with the applicable guidance for ASC 712, Nonretirement Postemployment Benefits, whereby we accounted for termination benefits and recognized liabilities when the loss was considered probable that employees were entitled to benefits and the amounts could be reasonably estimated.
During the years ended December 31, 2024, 2023 and 2022, we incurred costs of $65 million, $4 million, and $24 million, respectively, for termination benefits, net of changes in estimates. The majority of our termination benefits are recorded within other operating charges in the consolidated statements of operations. The remaining payments associated with these actions are expected to be substantially completed within 18 months.
The following table summarizes the activity related to the termination benefit reserves and expenses for the years ended December 31, 2024, 2023 and 2022:
