Operating segments
The Company identified its operating segments based on internal reporting provided to the chief operating decision maker, identified as the Company’s, President and Chief Financial Officer, to make decisions about resources to be allocated and assess performance. The Company hasone reportable operating segment which is made up of its oil sands operations based on geographic location (Athabasca oil sands region of Alberta, Canada), nature of the products sold and integration of facilities and operations. The Company determines its operating segments based on the differences in the nature of operations, products sold, economic characteristics and regulatory environments and management. All of the Company’s non-current assets are located in and revenue is earned in Canada.
