Letter to Shareholders

Dear DTE Energy Shareholder,

We invite you to attend our company’s annual meeting of shareholders, which will be held in a virtual-only format on Thursday, May 7, 2026. Details regarding how to participate in the meeting can be found on page 67.

2026 brings with it significant opportunities and challenges in the energy industry characterized by unprecedented demand growth and rapid technological innovation. At the same time, the national conversation about affordability – with energy at the forefront – will shape political campaigns, public policy and customer expectations like never before. Amid these complex dynamics, DTE Energy remains committed to delivering value for everyone we serve.

In 2025, DTE made tremendous progress to that end – investing in our electric and gas infrastructure, accelerating our expansion of cleaner energy, strengthening partnerships in our communities, and leveraging technology and innovation to ensure our services remain reliable and affordable. Highlights included the following:

We continued making major investments to build a more modern and resilient electric grid, installing smart devices, rebuilding key sections of the grid, upgrading poles, cross-arms, and other critical infrastructure, and trimming 6,600 miles of trees. These enhancements, combined with strategic planning, process improvements and less extreme weather, enabled us to restore power faster than ever before during storms, reducing outage time by 67% from 2024 and 90% from 2023. Our ongoing investments are crucial to ensuring our grid is ready for future opportunities like growing electric demand.

Our team made exceptional progress enhancing our natural gas system with a focus on customer safety and reliability. The team replaced more than 180 miles of aging pipelines and achieved the fastest leak response time in our company’s history.

We advanced our clean energy goals by bringing Pine River and Polaris Solar Parks online, powering over 43,000 homes. We also began construction on Cold Creek Solar Park to help Ford Motor Company achieve 100% carbon-free manufacturing and partnered with the city of Detroit on the first of two solar parks DTE will build to offset electricity use in city buildings. These actions move us closer to DTE’s net zero carbon goal and support Michigan’s new clean energy standard of 60% renewables by 2035.

Building on our commitment to drive progress and prosperity in our communities, we signed our company’s first hyperscale data center contract, which will become the largest economic initiative in Michigan’s history. More importantly, it will not increase rates for customers and will provide significant long-term affordability benefits for all of our electric customers as the fixed costs of our infrastructure are spread over much larger electric usage.

The driving force behind our progress remains our team of nearly 10,000 dedicated employees, who were honored with Gallup’s Exceptional Workplace award for the 13th consecutive year, placing us among the top companies worldwide. Our team’s commitment to safety was our greatest achievement this year, as our company remained among the safest energy companies, highlighted by zero high energy serious injuries.

We are proud of the progress we made in 2025 to deliver safe, clean, reliable energy to our customers, while keeping costs as low as possible. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and investment in DTE. Together, we look forward to building on our momentum and delivering even greater value for everyone we serve in 2026 and beyond.
